@TimHortons Late to the Twitter Party?

November 22, 2011

On November 14th a Canadian institution joined the Twitterverse: Tim Hortons.  Within hours the @TimHortons Twitter account acquired an impressive 1000 followers.  I, for one, was happy to see Tim Hortons on Twitter as I believe many other double double loving Canadians were as well. Many of us have grown up with Tim Hortons; it’s been a part of our childhood, teenage years and adulthood.

There was a great amount of positive feedback for Tim Hortons on Twitter and that was great to see. However I did see one tweet that really struck me: “Wow a little late to the game aren’t we?”

This tweet refers to the fact that Twitter has been around since 2006 and its popularity has been increasing in leaps and bounds, so it would seem that Tim Hortons should have had an official account long ago.

The person who sent that tweet has it all wrong though. It’s never too late to join such an incredible social media channel, one that allows brands to interact directly with its customers and keep them up to date with the latest news, product offerings and more. If you love Tim Hortons, it doesn’t matter when they showed up to the Twitter party, it just matters that they are there now.

This is what I want every person, brand, association and company to know. Its okay if you aren’t on Twitter yet, but it will be amazing when you get there.
